FreshPoint Produce, a subsidiary of SYSCO Foods, is the largest foodservice distributor of fresh produce in the country, supplying the freshest produce directly from the field to our customer’s kitchens.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for assigned commodities which includes pricing, procuring product, costing product, maintaining quality, performing inventory control, freight, item file maintenance, margin management, protecting shrink, and fill rates, 100% compliance with all Corporate food safety protocols when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchase of all retail, foodservice, organic and specialty produce items at the lowest cost possible.
Determine daily needs and maintain the desired inventory levels.
Order loads and build trucks for loading
Ensure fill rate of 99% or greater
Initiate transfers when & where applicable
Ensure 100% compliance with all vendor HHA/COI/GAP certifications
Coordination of loads with the Baugh office and carriers.
Set weekly “Market” price.
Participate in the weekly pricing meeting.
Provide pricing to Sales and Regional compliance as requested
Monitor “National” prices for accuracy.
Verify and confirm that contract items are priced correctly in the system prior to being received into the system
Participate in Credits as % to net sales of less than 1%
Verify and confirm passings and PO’s before they are received for 100% accuracy
Ensure that all shrink is protected
Perform cooler walks daily
Serves as liaison between the sales staff and the procurement department.
Participate in inventory if needed.
Assists department personnel during employee absences.
Responsible for sustainability initiative in assigned area.
Set up local rebate programs where applicable
Assist with sourcing and setting up local farmers for local sourcing program
Recommend program pricing commitments (i.e. quantities, vendor)
Other duties as determined necessary by management.
Adherence to attendance policy and work schedule including rotating Saturday duty
Generate a “push” sales list weekly
Ensure 100% compliance with all Corporate and local food safety programs
QUALIFICATIONS : The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work non-traditional hours when necessary
Punctuality and consistent attendance is a must
Proven ability to communicate effectively over the phone, good negotiating and interpersonal skills and ability to handle stress effectively.
General understanding of computers.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.
Good communication skills.
Must be able to work with all levels within the organization.
AS-400 experience preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or equivalent
Two (2) years produce-related purchasing preferred.
Two (2) years intensive produce knowledge, including seasonal changes.

Primarily sedentary in nature, however some minor lifting may be required. While performing the duties of this job, an associate occasionally works near moving mechanical apparatus and is occasionally exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working is done on concrete flooring. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climates. Temperatures range from zero in the coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors.
