Sysco Sr. Staff Accountant in Dublin, Ohio
The Senior Staff Accountant provides financial information such as preparing journal entries, monthly closing, and accounting analysis for SYGMA in accordance with GAAP, SYSCO and SYGMA policies. In addition, the Senior Staff Accountant acts as a guardian for one or more of our Distribution Centers. Periods of significant overtime may be required. A significant portion of the day is spent on key entry.
Perform weekly/monthly gross margin analysis for assigned Concepts and resolve significant discrepancies or variances.
Perform the weekly forecast of assigned center(s). Work with the GM and staff to ensure accuracy.
Perform weekly review of the Accounts Payable Distribution Report for completeness and accuracy.
Perform financial statement review and analysis during close process.
Prepare weekly/monthly journal entries.
Work with GM's to ensure accurate accruals and GL account allocations throughout the month and perform monthly accrual analysis.
Provide support to managers of assigned operating units in terms of research, accounting, training, and guidance.
Develop and maintain a relationship with GM and staff of assigned center.
Perform timely completion and analysis of assigned monthly account reconciliations.
Produce and distribute weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
Control data collection for operational statistical data.
Perform quarterly SOX's testing.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum of 5 year's experience in accounting
Must have solid accounting skills and a working knowledge of GAAP
CPA and Food Service Distribution background a plus.
Skill with PC, G/L package, AS400 Query, Excel, calculator, copier, telephone, facsimile machine, Infinium
Must be computer literate with demonstrable mastery of advanced level Excel skills; 10 key by touch
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate clearly with employees, General Managers, and other business contacts
Ability to produce neat and accurate work
Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
Extended periods of standing may be required while filing or researching files.
Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction
