Position: Day Selector

General Purpose of the Position:

The Value Added Day Selector is responsible for pulling all the items ordered by each customer so that their bulk and split product items are together. The selector is also responsible for pulling and loading all “will call” customer orders. The Selector must ship all “will call” customer orders before they are loaded and paperwork is turned in.

Key Relationships:

Value Added Logistics Manager, all warehouse personnel and selectors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Selector must ensure customer satisfaction through proper product quality, quantity, accuracy and proper loading to protect the product.

  • The Selector will ensure that all products loaded go on the correct vehicle in the correct sequence. All products loaded must be transported without damage.

  • Selector must log each pallet on the load sheet for each trailer

  • Keep work area clean and neat at all times.

  • Responsible for all products shipped on the trucks. Must identify all products according to size, origin and count before loading.

  • Contact the Supervisor immediately if there is any doubt about the quality of a product.

  • Read and understand the inventory sheets.

  • Make sure that all pallets are not stacked against any of the painted walls.

  • Assure that all vehicles being loaded with power equipment have wheels chocked for safety.

  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

  • Responsible for working until relieved by supervisor. This may require working longer than your scheduled work hours.

  • Good attendance and adherence to work schedule

  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Reading and writing skills.

Experience Required:

  • Working knowledge of produce.

  • Ability to properly stack trucks.

  • Minimum of three (3) months warehouse experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move 50 lbs. continuously during shift, occasionally up to 80 lbs.

  • Some stooping and bending required.

  • Ability to operate warehouse power equipment.

  • Must be able to move around the work area freely.

  • Must be able to adjust to extreme cold temperatures in the warehouse.
