Shuttle Driver, Class A CDL – Hammond Overview

Doerle Food Service, LLC is an innovative, independent food service distributor with a diversified customer base, offering superior products and services at competitive prices with a dedication to quality customer service! We have an immediate need for Delivery Drivers to operate bobtail and/or tractor trailer, sometimes long distances, over predetermined routes to transport packaged food and related products. This position is a manual handling, labor intensive job loading and unloading products from vehicle onto customer's premises. Considerable strength and endurance is required to safely and successfully perform this job due to the weight of merchandise and frequency it is handled. Operates company vehicle in a professional manner.


Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Inspects truck for condition. Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations. May assist workers in loading/unloading vehicle. Responsible for shuttling trailers to and from Hammond/Baton Rouge/New Orleans area to Broussard location or various customer locations, where required. Home site would be the Hammond Depot.


  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Class A CDL operator’s license and good driving record required

  • Ability to read and comprehend computer printouts and write legibly

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent

  • Complete DOT acceptable application for employment

  • Successfully complete DOT required road test, DOT drug screen, and physical

  • General knowledge of highways and locations in LA, TX, MS, and surrounding states where deliveries may be scheduled

  • Ability to take direction and comprehend instructions

  • Know and obey traffic regulations; be safe and conscientious driver

  • Ability to drive bobtail and/or tractor-trailer

  • Good communication skills needed for interactions with customers in making deliveries

  • Able to lift up to 80 lb

  • Able to tolerate cold temperatures
